Key Responsibilities
- Measure and mix doughs following each recipe
- Knead, divide and mould the dough in time with the production schedule
- Check how the dough is proofing
- Keep an eye on oven temperatures and how long each batch bakes
- Produce loaves, bread rolls, buns and savoury bakes of consistently high quality, and present them well
- Teach apprentices and bakery assistants and help them progress
- Follow hygiene and safety rules so the bakery stays clean and safe
- Help to manage stock, order ingredients and limit waste
- Work with the bakery manager and colleagues to meet the day's output, and be friendly to customers whenever the job calls for it
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised qualification as a baker
- At least two years working in relevant commercial baking
- Strong practical skills with bread and other yeast-based goods
- Commitment to product quality, food safety and a clean workplace
- Good communication, a team attitude and the ability to keep working efficiently when the bakery is busy
- Availability for early starts, weekends and public holidays when rostered
