Cookie Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

Visitors to JobsAbroad Tanzania meet no advertising tags, and nothing our own code does creates a cookie. The only cookies come from the two analytics services we use. The sections below account for every piece of data that a visit can leave in your browser.

1. Terms used on this page

For convenience we say "cookies" when we mean any technique by which a website saves data in your browser. The main kinds are:

  • Cookie: a short text file that a website stores in your browser and reads again when you come back.
  • sessionStorage: space linked to one browser tab, cleared as soon as you close that tab.
  • localStorage and IndexedDB: space that lasts until you or the browser removes it.

2. The one item we store ourselves

Our code leaves exactly one thing in a visitor's browser, and it is not a cookie.

The item is called chunk_reload_at and lives in sessionStorage. It stores a moment in time. Its job is to let a page that was open during one of our releases reload itself a single time rather than show an error. It says nothing about who you are, it is gone when the tab closes, and we do not use it to identify you, to count visitors or to follow you to other websites.

3. Cookies from the analytics tools

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity report to us on how people use the site; what they gather is explained in our Privacy Policy. They create these cookies:

  • Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_<ID>, which last up to 2 years each;
  • Microsoft Clarity sets _clck (1 year) and _clsk (1 day);
  • Microsoft also sets CLID and MUID, which last 1 year each.

The hidden admin page does not load either tool.

4. Login for our staff

A team member who signs in through the hidden admin page has their session stored by Firebase Authentication (Google) in IndexedDB or localStorage, and their sign-in email address goes into localStorage. Someone who never opens that page gets none of this on their device.

5. Other things our pages load

Google Fonts. The typefaces come from Google, so Google receives your IP address and some basic facts about your browser when they load.

YouTube. Where Shorts appear, their thumbnails are fetched from i.ytimg.com. If a page has no videos, that section is hidden and nothing is requested. The video player itself comes from youtube-nocookie.com and is requested only after you tap a video; from that point YouTube may store data in line with Google's policies.

WhatsApp and share buttons. These stay inactive until you tap them.

Links to other sites. Once you open a government website or one of the other sites we link to (Skills Assessment Australia, Build AI CV, Talent Tabloid and English test practice), it sets its own cookies under its own policy.

7. How to block or clear them

In your browser settings you can delete or block website data at any time, and the public pages will carry on working as usual. Private or incognito windows discard their storage when closed. If Google Fonts is blocked, your device substitutes a font of its own. YouTube stores nothing as long as you leave the videos unplayed, because the thumbnails never start the player. The staff login is the only feature that depends on browser storage. If you want to stop Google Analytics alone, install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

8. Updates to this page

If we ever add a cookie or another stored item, it will appear in this list and the date at the top will move. Our Privacy Policy covers personal data more broadly.
