A big underground mine in Queensland producing zinc, lead and silver needs a permanent Mining Engineer for medium term planning. The plan is intricate: several operating fronts, with development, stoping, ventilation, backfill, infrastructure, services and production readiness acting on each other, and a long mine life ahead.
Plans and schedules that support production and development targets are developed, maintained and improved by this role. The post can be Brisbane based, FIFO to the mine or residential at the mine, and visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and continuously refine the plans and schedules that carry production and development targets.
- Convert strategies at Life-of-Mine and long-term level into medium-term mining sequences.
- Optimise stope extraction, development timing, ventilation availability and infrastructure readiness in the sequences.
- Provide sequences ready to become short term plans.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Tertiary education in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Underground hard rock mining background, ideally with time in mine planning, scheduling or technical services.
- Competence in Deswik, Surpac or similar software for development planning, stope sequencing and analysing schedules, plus solid knowledge of how underground mines are worked, what development requires and how production is sequenced.
- Skill at combining geological, geotechnical, ventilation and operational constraints into mine plans that can be put into practice.
- An analytical thinker who solves problems, assesses planning risk and identifies constraints.
