Do you maintain trains, locomotives, ships or heavy plant? A manufacturer of rolling stock that services Wellington's electric passenger trains wants Maintenance Mechanical Engineers for several permanent positions. The work is demanding and safety-critical, covering fault finding, upkeep, repair and recovery after incidents on its electric multiple units and carriages, with shifts and a weekly minimum of 40 hours.
Electrical, mechanical, rail, industrial and automotive engineers are all encouraged to apply, including from overseas. As an Accredited Employer the company can extend AEWV sponsorship support to suitable candidates with rolling stock experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Keep routine maintenance on schedule and complete scheduled checks plus out-of-course repairs
- Find faults in electric multiple units and passenger carriages, repair them and bring them back after incidents
- Apply sound mechanical engineering practice within safety standards
- Stay inside health and safety rules in a safety-critical workplace
- Maintain accurate documentation and the security of plant and equipment
Requirements & Eligibility
- Qualification: NZQA Level 4 or 5 trade certificate or equivalent, in an automotive, mechanical or electrical field
- Experience: at least four years of hands-on maintenance, fault finding, repair and incident recovery
- Familiar with relevant technical specifications, standards and practices
- Previous work in heavy industry, the automotive industry, locomotives, ships or similar
- An electrician's registration or licence is an advantage but not essential
