A General Manager is wanted to lead a large new property being opened in Auckland by a group that operates hostels and hybrid hotel-hostel stays with food and beverage venues in Australia and New Zealand.
The role is senior, with full oversight of the property. Heads of Host, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance report to the General Manager, who is responsible for the guest experience, team culture, financial performance and compliance. A cover letter is required.
Pre-opening work comes first, with a January 2027 start aimed for ahead of a March opening, so you help build the operation and leadership team. The employer is accredited, open to candidates in New Zealand or overseas and able to sponsor visa applications for the right person.

Key Responsibilities
- Take overall charge, with the Host, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance heads reporting to you, answering for the guest experience, culture, finances, standards and compliance
- Pre-opening, team up with colleagues to build the operation and leadership team and carry the property from plans to opening
- Post-opening, keep every department joined up, support your leaders and keep teams aligned
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience running a busy hotel or hostel, plus an understanding of lodging, yield management and what makes a property perform commercially
- Comfort with budgets, labour, revenue and cost control, and some food and beverage exposure, ideally across bars, restaurants or busy social venues
- Awareness of the Auckland hospitality and lodging scene is helpful but not essential
- A cover letter is required to be considered for interview
