A Melbourne-based digital marketplace in high growth needs a Financial Accountant for a hybrid role that starts as temporary and is structured to become permanent full-time. It reports to the Financial Controller, works day to day with the CFO and covers month-end discipline, balance sheet integrity and multi-entity statutory compliance.
An assistant accountant handles daily processing, so the work is foundational accounting and clean reporting rather than complex commercial modelling, in a lean, transparent environment with direct access to senior leadership. People already in Australia on a Working Holiday visa with proven accounting capability are the target group. Full visa support is available for those who are eligible.

Key Responsibilities
- Own the month-end and period-end close in Xero across the group's operating entities (journals, reconciliations, consolidated trial balances)
- Cover statutory and tax compliance: BAS/GST, payroll tax reconciliations, leave provisions and FBT returns, with external advisors
- Review the daily processing, invoice entry, receivables follow-ups and routine payroll done by an offshore Assistant Accountant
- Manage intercompany loans, recharges and eliminations
- Support baseline FP&A: cash flow tracker, budget variances and annual budget roll-forward data
- Apply the group's enterprise AI tools and automation to recurring reconciliations, and assist executives with ad-hoc schedules and documentation on group structuring and entity setups
Requirements & Eligibility
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
- CA/CPA status or an equivalent international qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), completed or underway
- Experience in financial accounting, month-end ledger ownership and statutory compliance within Australia or a comparable jurisdiction
- Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417 or 462) holders with full Australian work rights are strongly encouraged to apply

- High attention to detail, strong personal accountability and adaptability in a scale-up
- Clear, concise communication, written and verbal, with confidence collaborating directly with executives
