New Zealand's Nelson area has an opening for a Duty Manager at a licensed café and restaurant on the waterfront. Up to 200 guests fit inside, the venue trades daily, and the calendar swings from a busy summer to a quieter winter. The business prizes good food, genuine hospitality and clear systems, so that great service can be repeated.
As the licence-holding Duty Manager you would lead the floor on rostered shifts, taking responsibility for service, the guest experience, the team on duty and the venue's safe, lawful operation. The role is permanent, requiring a minimum of 30 hours a week, weekends and public holidays included.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the dining floor on your rostered shifts, setting the pace and standard for the team on duty, briefing them at the start and coaching them as service unfolds
- Be the licensed Duty Manager: host responsibility and obligations under alcohol sale and supply law sit with you
- Make sure venue systems, checklists and procedures are followed by every team member
- Do the cash-up, opening, closing and handovers accurately, and deal calmly with guest feedback, taking bigger issues to the Restaurant Manager
Requirements & Eligibility
- Duty Manager Certificate (Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012), or the ability to obtain one promptly
- A National Certificate in Food & Beverage Service (Level 3), an equivalent qualification, or study towards either
- Past supervisory or shift-leader experience in hospitality
- Good grasp of wine, beverage and food service
- Comfortable with rosters
- Aware of wage cost expectations per shift
- Skilled with venue systems: IdealPOS, NowBookIt, Operandio, Slack and Loaded
- The right to work in New Zealand
