A hotel bar and restaurant in Queenstown, serving hearty, rustic fare, wants two Commis Chefs on permanent contracts of 30 hours weekly. Cooking and presenting breakfast items, conference food and other dishes is the core of the job, and so is helping a tight-knit team keep the kitchen running well.
Applicants should be free for late nights, weekends and public holidays. Visa sponsorship could potentially be offered by the employer to the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Make sure the produce and ingredients used are top quality
- Prepare, cook and present food for breakfast, conferences and the regular menu, plating accompaniments correctly
- Provide dairy-free, gluten-free and other dietary options
- Follow hygiene, health and safety rules; operate cooking appliances and tools correctly; help maintain HACCP procedures
- Keep supplies and equipment stocked and reduce waste
- Help with washing up and other kitchen duties, freezing and preserving, and training and recruitment when required
Requirements & Eligibility
- Willing and able to work late nights, weekends and public holidays
- A strong team player for a tight-knit team
- Experience in a similar position, plus à la carte menu experience
- Able to work 30 hours a week on a permanent contract
- An NZQCF Diploma, or at least three years of relevant experience in place of the formal qualification (a mix may be suitable)
- Safe food handling certification: an advantage, not required
